Who is MIM?

Have you ever heard of MIM, the man in the map? Today we learned who he is and how he can help us identify the 12 states in the Midwest region. On Thursday this week, students will have an assessment where they will label each of the Midwest states, write the appropriate abbreviation, and identify the capital of each state. Students are bringing home their resources tonight to use as they study and prepare for the assessment on Thursday. Check out this YouTube video of the book The Little Man on the Map to help you understand MIM, and be sure to ask your child who he is as well!

Can you see MIM in the picture to the right? Arkansas(his pants) and Louisiana (his boots) are in the Southeast region. Minnesota is his hat, Iowa is his face, and Missouri is his shirt.
