Recently in yoga, students learned what a “mala” is and how it is used in mindfulness. A yoga mala necklace consists of 108 beads and they are used during meditation or mindfulness to count breaths and create a sense of grounding. Each student created their own mini mala for themselves to carry around. We made them pocket sized, or bracelet sized so students could use them during school if they ever found themselves anxious or in need of breath.
