Compare with another fraction to see which is greater.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Multiplication War:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Play a card game where you flip two cards, multiply them, and see who has the highest product.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Reading &amp; Writing Activities<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Read &amp; Recommend:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Read a book for 30 minutes, then write a book review. Would you recommend it to a friend? Why or why not?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><b>Frozen in Time:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Imagine you wake up to find everything outside frozen solid. Write a short story about how you and your town adapt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><b>Spelling Snowball Fight:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Write each of your spelling words on a small piece of paper, crumple them up like snowballs, and toss them into a basket as you say each one aloud.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><b>Letter to a Snowflake:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Write a persuasive letter convincing a snowflake to land in your yard instead of somewhere else!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Science Activities<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Snow Measurement Challenge<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 If possible, go outside and measure the depth of the snow in different areas. Compare results and graph the data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Hot vs. Cold: Insulation Experiment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 Fill three cups with warm water. Wrap one in a wool sock, one in aluminum foil, and leave one unwrapped. Place them outside in the snow and check which one stays warm the longest. Discuss why some materials insulate better than others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Frozen Bubbles Experiment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 If temperatures are below freezing, blow bubbles outside and watch how they freeze. Observe the patterns that form in the ice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Does Snow Reflect Heat?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 Place a dark-colored and a light-colored object (like a black and white piece of paper) on top of the snow and observe which one melts into the snow faster. Discuss how color affects heat absorption.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Can You Make Instant Ice?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 Supercool a bottle of water by leaving it outside in freezing temperatures (or in a freezer for about 2 hours without fully freezing). Then, gently pour it over ice cubes and watch it instantly turn into ice!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Social Studies Activities<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Famous Winter Events in History<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 Learn about historical snow-related events, like George Washington\u2019s troops at Valley Forge or the 1888 Great Blizzard. Write a diary entry from someone experiencing the event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Snowy Postal Routes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 Research how mail was delivered in snowy regions in history, such as by dog sleds in Alaska or the Pony Express dealing with winter storms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Snow Day Economics<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 Imagine you are starting a snow-related business (like a sled rental or hot cocoa stand). Plan what you would sell, how much you\u2019d charge, and who your customers would be.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The History of Snow Days<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 Research how people in the past dealt with heavy snow before modern technology like snow plows and heated homes. How did they travel, stay warm, and keep food stored?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Creative &amp; Fun Activities<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Snowflake Symmetry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Cut paper snowflakes and identify the lines of symmetry in each one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Snow-Themed Snack Creation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Invent a new snack or hot drink perfect for a snow day.
