Students learned what a book club is, how it operates, why preparation matters, and how to engage in meaningful, respectful discussions with their peers. They also explored their book options and eagerly submitted their preferences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This week, students previewed three incredible stories: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Tale of Despereaux<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Prince Caspian<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bridge to Terabithia<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Each book offers rich characters, exciting adventures, and plenty of opportunities for deep thinking and conversation. Students spent time learning about each text so they can enter their book clubs ready to read with purpose.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Starting next week, book club groups will be revealed, and students will dive into their assigned books. They will be responsible for reading their assigned chapters and responding to reading response questions in their writing notebooks. These responses help them reflect on characters, themes, and events while preparing them to bring thoughtful ideas to their group discussions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">During each book club meeting, students will be expected to contribute something meaningful to the conversation: whether it\u2019s an idea, a connection, an insight, or a question they want the group to explore. Our goal is to build thoughtful readers who can listen, respond, and collaborate in a supportive literary community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We\u2019re so excited for this journey and can\u2019t wait to watch students grow as readers and discussion partners.
