Kindness For All, Starting With Ourselves

Today in fifth grade, the students spent time discussing emotions and kindness.  We discussed the emotions we feel and the outward expressions of those emotions.  We even played a particularly difficult version of charades, where students had to act out different emotions (ask your fifth grader what satisfaction or determination looks like).  Afterwards, the students created posters reflecting on how they can be kind to themselves, other people, and the world – listing their thoughts in concentric circles.  Lastly, we created some inspirational posters for the classroom with some favorite quotes about kindness.
