Snow Day!

Good morning and happy snow day, 5th graders!

Here are some things you could do today to keep your brains warm!

  • IXL – Diagnostic Arena or any recommendations from me or IXL.  I’ll also make some recommendations for pattern and geometry skills for you to explore.  I’ll also host a group jam at 2pm for anyone interested in some group activity today!
  • Xtramath – practice those simple facts!  Also, you could create flashcards for the ones you need extra practice with.
  • Create your own Mad Libs to practice with nouns, pronouns, and verbs.  Find or write a short story, then replace some nouns, pronouns, and verbs with blanks and give copies to some family members.  See how silly these stories can get!
  • Code.org – use the Science Classroom link or go create your own coding projects.
  • Format or work on the extra pieces of your newspaper project.  I’ll post the project guidelines on our History Google Classroom page for you to reference.
  • Secret inside information:  we’re starting a poetry unit next week.  You could get your brain ready for this unit by writing some snow day themed poems in any style you know already or can find on the internet.  We’ll share them in class to kick off the unit!
  • We’re getting into fractions next week too!  Find a recipe to make with your family.  Pay special attention to the ingredients list – discuss what happens to the measurements when you halve or double a recipe.
  • Prodigy – practice those math skills!
  • Just read!  Cozy up with a good book and some cocoa and read the day away!

Stay warm and safe!  See you all tomorrow!
