Rainy Day at the Zoo!

Phew!  It was close, but we managed to sneak in a visit to the Dickerson Park Zoo today before a serious storm started.  The weather was looking incredibly unpredictable, but with a huge thanks to our incredibly flexible chaperones and bus driver, we were able to move our field trip an hour earlier and spend some time at the zoo.  The first and fifth graders traveled throughout the zoo in groups researching animal traits and paying attention to the ways in which the animal enclosures are designed to mimic animals’ biomes in the wild.  The groups will use this information to create a Summit zoo over the next week and a half.  It was great fun!
