Reliable Resources and Some Ice Age Art

This week in social studies, the fifth graders have been researching questions they had about life during the Ice Age and Beringia.  The focus of this project has been on the relationship between search engines and websites, how to use keywords to search, and how to identify reliable resources.  Students have identified many reliable sites managed by museums, governments, universities, and news sources.

We have also used the opportunity to look at and replicate art from the Ice Age.  Coming soon:  a lift-the-flap cave painting in our hallway that gives information about life during the Ice Age!

Bonus pictures:  We also have been reading our fall subscription of Scholastic Storyworks looking for the literary elements that we’ve been reviewing so far this year..
