Ice Day 1/31

Hi Fifth Graders and Families!

Happy Ice Day!  Here are some activities to keep your brain warm today!

  • All previous suggestions on GoogleClassroom are still available to you.  Including:  “Where I’m From Poem”, the Magnets Nearpod, and guidelines for upcoming projects.
  • Additionally, I have posted a Generation Genius link to a movie and interactive activities on the Math GoogleClassroom page to learn about working with decimals.
  • On the Reading GoogleClassroom page, there are instructions to logging on to the Epic! website with a class code.  This will get you access to all sorts of resources for fiction and nonfiction reading.  You can find a fictional story to read (or listen to!) or look for nonfiction on electricity, magnetism, European explorers, and lots more topics!
  • Warm up for our Day of Play tomorrow by finding something unconventional to build with.  Build a castle with playing cards or plastic cups.  Make a hopscotch-type or the-floor-is-lava-type game with paper plates.
  • Do you remember how to make tessellation art? (Remember making leaves for our Thankfulness Tree?) Teach your family!
  • Check out these suggestions from Specials Teachers here.
  • As always – carve out some time to read a really good book.

Have a fun, warm, and safe day today!  Looking forward to hearing about your snow day adventures when we return to school!
