Weathering and Erosion in Real Life!

Today, the fifth graders went to the Nature Center!  We took a hike to go looking for evidence of weathering, erosion, and soil deposition.  We found weathering happening to large rocks.  We found erosion happening along gravel paths, across hillsides, and between tree roots. We saw evidence of soil deposition in dry stream beds. We also took some time to talk about ways in which people try to prevent erosion like putting up retaining walls, putting down gravel, and diverting running water.
