Here is one of my favorites: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/kids.nationalgeographic.com\/books\/article\/color-explosion\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Color Explosions<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Play a Recycling Game on the City of Springfield\u2019s Environmental Services page <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/springfieldmo.recycle.game\/en-US\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Test your knowledge of which materials can and cannot be recycled. Mrs. Bowsher is helping students audit the Summit\u2019s trash\/recycling next week. Use the information you learned playing the game to create a poster we can hang in the school about Springfield recycling.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Write a letter to the author or main character of the book you&#8217;re reading in our reading groups (make sure to share it with Mrs. V!).\u00a0 We can submit these to the LAD Fair later in the year!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I\u2019ve updated your Vocab Zone options with vocabulary from the last parts of your novels &#8211; give some new words a try!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Typing Club, Code.org, Xtramath, and IXL are always available.\u00a0 Remember that IXL has games- there are some part-of-speech games that you all could master now that we\u2019ve covered all of them!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Remember our &#8220;Fifth Grade Favorites&#8221; books:\u00a0 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Girl Who Drank the Moon, The Unteachables, Once Upon a Camel<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Phantom Tollbooth.\u00a0 <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Which will be our class&#8217;s favorite?!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Stay safe, stay warm, and have a great snow day!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mrs. Verney<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ideas from past snow days that are still available:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On the GoogleClassroom Writing page, there is a Slides document that walks you through writing a poem about what makes you YOU.\u00a0 Follow the instructions, then copy and paste it to the Docs document made for you on the assignment page.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How about a preview of our next math unit?\u00a0 There is a Generation Genius video about decimals on the GoogleClassroom Math page.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Play with some equivalent fractions <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/phet.colorado.edu\/sims\/html\/fractions-equality\/latest\/fractions-equality_all.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I\u2019ve posted one of my favorite recipes on the 5th Homeroom GoogleClassroom page.\u00a0 Give it a try!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1\/27\/26 Hey Fifth Graders and Families!
