We’ve got a short (but full!) week ahead of us.\u00a0 Today is picture day!\u00a0 Wednesday is our Ravens Reach Out Day.\u00a0 Here’s what we’re working on here in the classroom:<\/p>\n

Reading: We’re continuing with Alice in Wonderland<\/em> this week. We will be discussing the differences between observation and inference, and how to support inferences with direct quotations from a text.<\/p>\n

Writing\/Social Studies: We’re using writing and social studies times to begin a research project on Native American culture this week.\u00a0 Students have chosen an aspect of culture to focus on (housing, clothing, languages, etc.) and will be comparing the culture of Native American nations from 2 different culture regions.<\/p>\n

Language Studies: In an unusual move, this grammar unit will span 2 weeks – this and next week.\u00a0 We will be learning about pronouns and adjectives.\u00a0 The quiz on this unit will be next Friday, 10\/17.<\/p>\n

Science: Fifth graders will be learning about how moving tectonic plates cause volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis.<\/p>\n

Math: Today, we reviewed the assessment on multiplication and division of multi-digit whole numbers. Tomorrow, we will begin our 4th unit of the year on adding an subtracting fractions and mixed numbers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
