Friday Jan. 20th in Early Learners!

We’ve had a great week studying the letter Kk and learning new sight words, a, for, and, me, you!  Our Early Learners are excited about learning and it shows each day by their eagerness to participate and do their best!  They are so great!

This week we learned about two animals that begin with the letter Kk.  The Koala and the Kangaroo!  We learned where they come from, what they eat, how they live, grow and their behaviors.  We also learned that both the Koala and the Kangaroo are marsupials!  That means they carry their babies in a special pouch after they are born. The babies are called, Joey’s!    Our students loved reading stories, watching informational videos and creating projects to represent these extraordinary and unusual animals.  Ask your child if he or she can remember something unique or similar about the koala and the kangaroo!

As we continue to focus on the season of winter, our students have been excited to make projects that represent familiar sights, feelings and activities of this time of year.  Some of our exercises each day included pretending we are sledding down a snowy hill, using a push/pull motion, throwing snowballs as far as we can (pretending), using our arm muscles.  Running through mountains of snow lifting our feet and knees as high as we can and, stepping left and right to dodge snowballs being thrown at us!!  We’ve had so much fun!

We made two snowman projects this week.  The first was with puffy paint, creating a ‘Sneezy the Snowman’ that is melting.  The second snowman project included counting out the letters of their name, glueing the correct amount of circles to represent each letter and then glueing the circles on paper to create a snowman.  Our students were then asked to write the letters of their name on each circle.

Have a wonderful week-end!
