High School Mathematics

Geometry – This week students demonstrated their understanding of parabolas and circles. More specifically, they used the Pythagorean theorem and the characteristics of parabolas and circles to derive equations. They also used equations to determine key characteristics of the figures they represent.

Data Science – Data Science completed a unit about online data security. As much of the data used in real world situations is located online, it is valuable to know how to keep personal data safe. Students were introduced to encryption, secure protocols, strong passwords, and multi-factor authentication as well as malware, phishing, and rogue access points.
