Research and MLA in High School Language Arts

This past week, High School students began their final unit on research writing and MLA formatting. We discussed topic selection, paper setup, finding and citing sources, and more. This unit will take them through to the end of the year. I have every confidence they will finish strong. We will be doing mini-lessons throughout the process in order to break it down into smaller and more manageable pieces. Essays can be intimidating, so it is my hope that, by doing it in smaller chunks, some of that anxiety surrounding composition will ease. The High School students write exceptionally well and I’m very much looking forward to what they will produce.
