An Update on Our Spanish Learning Journey

Hola everyone! Over the past few weeks, we have been focusing on the fundamentals of Spanish, and I’m excited to share a brief update on what we’ve been learning so far. ✨

We began our course with the Spanish alphabet, which consists of 27 letters. Unlike English, Spanish includes the letter “ñ.” It’s essential to familiarize ourselves with the pronunciation of each letter, as this will make reading and writing in Spanish much easier. If you need a refresher, remember that each letter has its own sound, and practicing aloud is a great way to improve. ✏️ 📚

Next, we dove into the world of colors. We learned the names of basic colors such as “rojo” (red), “azul” (blue), “verde” (green), “amarillo” (yellow), and “negro” (black). We practiced identifying colors in everyday objects, which helps us connect vocabulary with our surroundings. 🌈

Numbers are another essential aspect of Spanish. We learned to count from 0 to 31 and some basic numbers beyond that. Knowing numbers helps us in everyday situations, such as telling time, discussing prices, and talking about dates. 1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣

Greetings and farewells are crucial for communication. We learned how to say “hola” (hello), “adiós” (goodbye), “buenos días” (good morning), and “buenas noches” (good evening), among many other expressions. We practiced these expressions in short dialogues, which has allowed us to feel more comfortable interacting in Spanish. 👋

Finally, we focused on some basic questions that help us start conversations. We learned how to ask “¿Cómo estás?” (How are you?), “¿Qué tal?” (What’s up?), and “¿Cómo te llamas?” (What is your name?). These questions will help us get to know each other better and engage more in our Spanish interactions. ❓

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

In addition to our language lessons, we have also been celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. This has been a wonderful opportunity to explore the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. We’ve enjoyed discussions, activities, and presentations that highlight influential figures and diverse customs, deepening our understanding and appreciation of the heritage that shapes the Spanish-speaking world. 🌎💃🌵

In summary, we have covered many important foundations in our Spanish learning journey. I am very proud of the progress my students have made so far. We will continue to practice and explore this wonderful language together.

Until next time or “hasta pronto”, class! ✌️
