First Day of Kindergarten 2019-2020

We had an amazing first day of Kindergarten!  Teachers, students, and families entered the school building ready to start another year. Our day began with the Question of the Day… “How do you feel about the first day of Kindergarten? Excited or nervous?” We had several excited students, a few nervous, and even some with both answers! After getting settled, we had morning meeting to set the tone for the day. Students learned several new procedures and expectations throughout the day, including: sit spots, bathroom, flexible seating, lunch, recess, how to line up, traveling in the halls, GoNoodle, snack, and carline.  We also discussed our classroom expectations and classroom motto: “Be safe, kind, and respectful!”  Procedure practice and building routines will be the focus of our first several days of school, in addition to building a positive classroom environment.  Students enjoyed many opportunities to interact with their peers and also enjoyed recess and lunch with 1st grade.  Other aspects of our day included: kind/unkind picture sort, quiet time, Spanish with Senora Raven, Art with Mrs. Murphy, Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten, and making friendship bracelets.  Ask your child to share about their special bracelet!
