Community Helpers Week – Day Four

We wrapped up Community Helpers Week today with three final guest speakers.  This morning, we had a visit with Mrs. Becky Breckner, our school counselor.  She talked with us about her role at The Summit and the many things that counselors do! We practiced belly breathing and loved hearing her talk about her favorite parts of the job.

Next, we met Rachel Gerken, Summit parent and realtor, who talked with us about how realtors help the community! We learned that realtors help families find the right home to purchase, or help families sell their home if they need to move. Realtors help families think about the type of home they want. Students enjoyed learning about the electronic measuring tools realtors use to measure rooms, and then got to practice measuring our classroom space!

This afternoon, we met Emma Renfroe, an artist. She showed us pictures of her artwork, helped us find inspiration in nature, and drew chalk with us! Ms. Renfroe shared that the most important thing about being an artist is practicing a lot, and not giving up in the face of a challenge!

In our classroom, we used virtual resources to learn about dentists, firefighters, astronauts, farmers, and chefs! Check out pictures of our awesome day below!
