Skype a Scientist

Our class had the opportunity to meet another community helper yesterday through a virtual program called “Skype a Scientist.”  We met Jordan Barrows, a PhD student in the Goley lab at Johns Hopkins. His research focuses on how bacteria divide and he studies how bacterial cells prepare for division and go about physically splitting in two.  Scientist Barrows talked with us about his lab work, what it is like to do research, and a little bit about bacteria division.  Students also had the opportunity to ask him several questions. This week, students will select their community helper roles and we will start researching!
Check out a few quick videos of bacteria division here!
