Introduction to Patterns

Yesterday during math block the Kindergarten class was introduced to the topic of patterns. To begin their exploration of patterns, we began creating an anchor chart together. The students learned that a pattern is something arranged following a rule. The first rule that the students learned about was AB patterns. After exploring AB patterns, we read a book called ABABA Book. After the read aloud, the students got to put their learning into practice, by creating their own AB patterns. We will continue learning about various patterns throughout the course of the week and work on identifying pattern cores.
