Middle School US History

Middle school history classes are starting their week with a question about the American Revolution. A quick recap of what they already know helps to ground each group in studying the roots of the American Revolution. By learning about the colonial economies and the restrictions placed over time by England, students begin to understand the reasons the colonies resisted more as time passed. While studying these aspects, students are also paying close attention to geography. With a basic knowledge of geography, triangular trade makes more sense, as do the products each colony/region is selling.

We’ll also do a bit of British history this week, as the English Civil War, the Glorious Revolution, and the 7 Years’ War affect what’s happening in the colonial world. In addition to these major moments, we’ll sprinkle in some Enlightenment ideas and the Great Awakening!
