Welcome Back!

As students returned to school for the second semester, they were asked to reflect on the community they had created so far this school year and if it was the best it can be. Most students expressed that they believed it could be improved. For improvement to happen, it is important that we all have common understanding and expectations as we moved forward this semester.

Students spent time in their core classes during the last week establishing norms based on the guiding principles of respecting others, choosing kindness, and having a growth mindset. The agreed upon norms are listed below. Students have been encouraged to hold each other accountable to these norms, and teachers are committed to reminding students of their norms. We look forward to continue working on our community and being a place where everyone feels safe and belonging.

“If I get to be me, I belong. If I have to be like you, I fit in.” – Brene Brown
