Sixth grade students recently completed group research and poster projects about the Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Seminole nations and their forced movement after the 1830 legislation signed by President Andrew Jackson. Students examined the culture and lifestyle of each tribe to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of forced removal.
Students are now preparing for a quiz on Thursday morning. The quiz will cover various topics from the Early Republic and their knowledge of the geography of the 50 US states. Students have been very engaged in preparations and practicing their critical thinking in class.
Seventh and eighth grade students are researching the contributions and significance of 19th century American abolitionists. Students are working to understand the unique contribution of their person of study, as well as the factors that led to their choices to be activists for change in such a tumultuous time. They have the option to present their research via slideshow for the class, through a poster created through Canva, or by crafting a short essay.
