{"id":4229,"date":"2022-10-12T16:07:29","date_gmt":"2022-10-12T16:07:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thesummitprep.org\/middleschool\/?p=4229"},"modified":"2022-10-12T16:07:29","modified_gmt":"2022-10-12T16:07:29","slug":"this-week-in-language-arts-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thesummitprep.org\/middleschool\/2022\/10\/12\/this-week-in-language-arts-10\/","title":{"rendered":"This week in Language Arts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although this week was a short one, we accomplished a lot in Middle School.<\/p>\n<p>6th grade finished their first novel of the year, &#8220;The Giver.&#8221; They are currently working on vocabulary for the last few chapters and will begin their group project over the novel when they return on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>7th\/8th grade read the classic short story &#8220;The Lottery.&#8221; Ever since it&#8217;s original publication in &#8220;The New Yorker,&#8221; It has been delighting readers with it&#8217;s ironic plot twist. The students enjoyed the unexpected ending and are now working on group projects to present their analysis of the story. In this presentation the students will present the parts that make up the story including such things as theme, mood, tone, etc. They will have class time to work on this project next week with presentations beginning on Thursday, October 20.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Although this week was a short one, we accomplished a lot in Middle School. 6th grade finished their first novel of the year, &#8220;The Giver.&#8221;
