Math Fundamentals – Sixth graders completed their study of operations with fractions and decimals. These skills will continue to be used, both in math and life! Now students are learning the basics of algebra. Expressions, equations, variables, and more. Critical to success will be vocabulary and understanding the ways operations are represented. For more information, check out this Family Support material<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Integrated Math – Integrated Math students learned that solving equations can be done efficiently using \u201cDon\u2019t Call Me After Midnight.\u201d After much practice with integer operations, distributing, and combining like terms, students are excited to move from expressions to equations, so they can determine specific values of unknown variables.<\/p>\n

Algebra I – Algebra 1 students moved into a study of quadratic functions. They worked their way through a variety of scenarios in order to understand equations related to throwing objects in the air. Important graph features including vertex, zeros, max\/min, and domain have been studied. Students are now analyzing quadratic expressions and moving from standard form to factored form and determining how each form is reflected in a graph.<\/p>\n

Geometry – Geometry students continue the study of solid figures.\u00a0 This week students drew connections between figures with rectangular faces (prisms and cylinders) and figures that have face(s) meeting at an apex (cones and cylinders).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
