Students in sixth grade<\/strong> have worked hard this week to consider their interests and plan an engaging presentation to teach their peers. They chose quite a wide array of topics, from swimming, to the history of golf, to equitation, to the how-to of comic book design. They\u2019re off to a strong start in their presentations with good eye contact, clear speaking voices, and confident posture. And we\u2019re all enjoying the opportunity to learn what each other cares about!<\/span><\/p>\n

In seventh and eighth grade<\/strong>, students wrapped up their interviews of each other and put together slideshows about the peer of their choice. These presentations also had a wide range, with some being pretty serious and others causing rich laughter. Again, students are practicing those key skills of presentation, as well as asking good questions and listening carefully. We\u2019re also discussing what changes occurred in the 15th century and why we\u2019re starting our history class there this year. We’ve tip-toed into our study of the Renaissance in the past few days, also.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In culinary arts<\/strong>, students were excellent in their clean-up and organization of the kitchen on Monday. We also planned out a few recipes for the early weeks. Wednesday\u2019s class was focused on pancakes and homemade syrup. Each class, students will practice reading the recipe, gathering ingredients and equipment, cooking\/baking whatever we\u2019ve planned, and cleaning up afterward. This detail-oriented crew is working well together and eager to learn.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In archery<\/strong>, students have had a few chances now to practice their skills. As their muscle memory and strength continue to grow, their skills and accuracy will improve – and it\u2019s always exciting to watch them progress! <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
