Sixth grade students<\/strong> discussed the Persian Empire in the early days of this week before beginning a research project about key figures in Greek history. Many students chose to learn about Greek gods and goddesses, while others are looking at key philosophers. Each student is tasked with creating a poster for the classroom wall and also preparing a presentation to teach their peers about their subject of choice. They\u2019ve had some lively discussions around their learning!<\/span><\/p>\n

Seventh and eighth grade students<\/strong> are wrapping up a comparative government research project. With most working in teams of two, students chose two countries (past or present) to compare and contrast. Throughout this project, they\u2019ve enriched their vocabularies and global understandings. They begin presenting tomorrow and will continue into the early days of next week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Students in culinary arts<\/strong> practiced their baking and<\/em> cooking skills this week. On Monday, we made a classic Tres Leches cake, which turned out to be absolutely delicious (we patiently waited until Wednesday to try it, as we wanted the flavors to have time to meld). On Wednesday, we created very yummy potato pillows, which had us frying gnocchi-shaped mashed potatoes. Students did a great job working as a team in both of these recipes, and they tackled kitchen clean up like pros.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students in archery<\/strong> are making quick progress in their accuracy and excellence. Students took some time last week to help re-stuff and cover targets, providing a clean slate for the semester. They\u2019re doing a really nice job of supporting each other\u2019s growth. When the weather is decent, we finish up by walking the track and getting some fresh air. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
