They also began looking for their next book report reading. Additionally, students were given time to finish LAD Fair entries and their website for student-led conferences. When we return from the long weekend, we will begin our next unit that will focus more on research and media literacy.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">SIXTH AND SEVENTH GRADE: We had a nice, mini-conversation about the importance of punctuation with the following sentence: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The man eating chicken ran through the streets which caused a great disturbance (Doe, p. 1)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To engage with your student, you could ask them:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">what book they want to read for their second book report;\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">what they included in their website; and\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">what LAD Fair categories they have completed their entries for.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students presented their book reports this week and were asked which of the books they learned about would they be most likely to read.
