Science/STEM Update

Middle School Physical Science

Students have been learning about metric system conversions. Scientific notation is next, followed by our first foray into science fair projects. Students will soon be asked to begin researching interesting topics to focus on for their science fair projects. An email will be sent out soon detailing due dates for all of the different parts of the project.

High School Science

High School students have been researching and presenting their findings on a wide variety of things from black holes and quasars to the formation of the solar system and the life-cycle of stars. It is been great to see these students teaching the class about some interesting and complex concepts. Students will move to the formation of the planet and the complex interaction of the Earth’s systems.

Middle School STEM

Students have been preparing for the LEGO First competition that happens in November. Students who are not interested in the LEGO First competition have been working on some interesting projects involving Arduino, programming, and circuitry design. It has been an exciting atmosphere in class, with a lot of collaboration and some great ideas.
