Science Update

Middle School:

Middle school students have wrapped up a project that involved researching various types of power production and coming up with an energy plan for the United States based on the priorities of their choosing.

Middle school students have started learning about how to do calculations of forces, work, and power while doing some lab activities to learn how the power exerted by humans compares to the power required to do things like power a microwave.

High School:

High school students wrapped up a project that involved building models of two topics of their choice involving plate tectonics. They were asked to present their models, along with research that helped classmates better understand these topics.

High School students are currently working on radioactive decay and its role in mantle convection and isotopic dating. This has involved activities using skittles to simulate radioactive nuclei, as well as instruction on how to date things based on half-life.
