Middle School World History

Middle school historians have been busy reading, researching, writing, thinking, and creating! Starting on Friday, students listened to a few creation stories, ranging across cultures, and then were tasked with creating their own. Some wrote stories, others depicted their ideas in artwork, and another composed her own piece of music to go with her story. It’s been fascinating to see the places their minds traveled as they crafted their stories.

Connected to our study of these stories is our study of early civilizations. Students began studying Mesopotamia after doing some geography work on Monday, and then dove into some specifics of this region and its people groups. An elemental part of early civilizations was their ability to record through the written word, and students have begun their study of this aspect of Mesopotamia before learning about Egypt, the Indus Valley region, and Mesoamerica.
