Happy September!
Culinary Arts
Culinary Arts students have tried out several recipes in the past few weeks. As a group, we made chocolate chip cookies (and decided that they were not the best ever – so we press on), salsa and omelettes, and enchiladas. Students reviewed each recipe to identify areas of strength and improvement. For example, our cookies needed more chocolate chips. 🙂 From here, we have moved into student presentations of family favorites. Yesterday was taco cuisine, and today will be fettuccine alfredo!Â
Current Events
Students in the current events elective are starting to find their preferences for news delivery, and they’re becoming more comfortable talking about what’s going on in the world. We had a great range of articles to discuss yesterday, and I was proud of the things students pulled out as specific and important!Â
Digital Citizenship
This sixth grade group has been a lot of fun so far. We’re taking some time to talk through some of the big changes of middle school, including extra responsibility. They are starting to use the glass calendar in the common area to record upcoming assignments and have a visual of their time management needs. Students also spent time yesterday crafting SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-based) and learned the art of writing an email.
