In 6th grade math, students are studying expressions and equations. They began this work with studying digital mobiles and figuring out what values created a balanced mobile. Using this information, they were able to draft statements of equivalency, representing unknown values with variables. From there, students determined how to calculate the exact value of the variable. They are working with more and more complicated expressions and equations as they deepen their understanding.
Algebra 1 has begun their mini-unit on statistical analysis of data. Students have learned about the difference between causation and correlation and are able to use measures of center and variability to draw conclusions about data as well as see the impact of outliers. Two-ways tables are the next tool students will use to analyze data.
PreCalculus/Trigonometry has used the last week to review the major concepts of the course and prepare for their comprehensive final exam which is being taken this week.
