Raven’s Art Studio presents: Observational Drawing

The lower school Raven artists have been dipping their toes into observational drawing.
Observational drawing is drawing what you see from life, rather than from memory or imagination. It can be anything that is in front of you, such as a bowl of fruit, a landscape, or a flower. It helps the artist develop perceptual skills, hand-eye coordination, and accuracy, and avoid flawed preconceptions about the appearance of objects. It is different from cartooning and comic strips, which involve interpretation, imagination, or creation. It is a difficult skill that requires a good grasp on drawing basics and artistic awareness.
Some may think this is a task too advanced for young kiddos, but I challenge them to do better than our wonderful little artists at The Summit!

The Summit Preparatory School is a fully accredited, non-religious, private school offering a full-time seated independent education for students in Springfield, Ozark, Nixa, Rogersville, and the greater Southwest Missouri area.
