Our 2nd Grade Wax Museum was a true celebration of learning, creativity, and hard work! Students began this project by researching a notable historical figure and transforming their learning into a detailed biography writing piece. They worked to organize information, write in complete sentences, and revise their work to clearly communicate key facts about their person’s life and impact. From there, students took on the exciting challenge of bringing their figure to life—memorizing short scripts so they could confidently share their learning with visitors. It was incredible to see their growth in both reading fluency and speaking skills as they practiced and performed.
Students also put great care into selecting a meaningful artifact from home to represent their figure, adding a personal and thoughtful touch to their presentations. Their attention to detail truly stood out in their costume planning, as well as in the creation of their display posters, which highlighted important facts and visuals to support their presentations. On Wax Museum day, students proudly stood “frozen” until guests arrived, then came to life to share their knowledge—it was such a fun and engaging way to showcase their learning!
In addition to the Wax Museum, families had the opportunity to view a variety of student work from across the curriculum. Displays included American symbols booklets, our colorful Shape Quilt geometry projects, thoughtful writing from the LAD Fair along with poetry pieces, and our collaborative timeline project that highlights key moments in our shared history. We are so proud of the effort, creativity, and growth our students demonstrated. This event was a wonderful reflection of all they have accomplished this year!
