Building Our Classroom Community: Table Promises

This week, our class took time to reflect on what makes our learning environment a great place to be. We talked about what helps us feel focused, supported, and successful, and how each of us plays a role in creating that kind of classroom community.

To help strengthen our shared sense of responsibility, each table group created a set of “Table Promises.” These are five simple commitments that students brainstormed together to remind one another of how we can all contribute to a positive, respectful, and productive space.

Some examples of their promises include:

  • Showing kindness and respect

  • Staying focused during work time

  • Listening and following directions

  • Encouraging teammates

  • Using materials responsibly

Each group’s poster is now displayed on their table as a daily reminder of our class goals and values.

This activity was part of a classroom reset, a chance to pause, reconnect, and refocus as a community. The students showed such thoughtful reflection and teamwork, and their “Table Promises” truly represent the kind of classroom we want to be: caring, responsible, and ready to learn together.
