3rd Grade Update

We had a busy and productive week in 3rd grade!

Science:
We continued our heat energy unit by learning more about convection and radiation and how heat moves in our world. On Monday, we will begin a hands-on experiment to explore conduction before moving on to light energy next week and sound energy shortly after.

Spelling:
This was a normal spelling week with our usual word lists and challenge words. We also had our school spelling bee today. Congratulations to Lucy, who won 1st place and is heading to Regionals. We are so proud of her!

Reading:
We are still wrapping up The Tale of Despereaux and continuing our novel study with thoughtful class discussions.

Writing:
Students began brainstorming and prewriting their personal narratives this week. We will continue this work next week. One day will also be dedicated to preparing entries for the LAD Fair, our annual spring writing competition where students submit their best writing to compete with schools in the area.

Math:
We ended the week with a math check covering multi-digit multiplication and multi-step word problems. Students have been working diligently to tackle these concepts. Next week, we will begin multi-digit division.

Have a wonderful weekend!
