Third Grade Update!

Here’s a look at what we’ve been working on recently in 3rd grade:

Math: We’ve started our Geometry unit, including the following topics:

2D Shapes, including polygons and quadrilaterals
Lines, angles, and vertices
Congruence, translation, rotation, lines of symmetry
Area, followed by perimeter

Social Studies:

Lewis and Clark
Sacagawea
The Louisiana Purchase
Thomas Jefferson
Native Americans and European Explorers

Reading:

Informational text structures, followed by text features (captions, headings, subheadings, table of contents, etc.)

Writing:

Poetry unit (haiku, acrostic, cinquain)
Personal narratives
Cursive writing practice

Spelling

Reminder that we only have spelling on 5-day school weeks, we use extra spelling time for reading, writing, grammar, or as flexible time for unfinished work.
