Here’s a look at what we’ve been working on recently in 3rd grade:
Math: We’ve started our Geometry unit, including the following topics:
- 2D Shapes, including polygons and quadrilaterals
- Lines, angles, and vertices
- Congruence, translation, rotation, lines of symmetry
- Area, followed by perimeter
Social Studies:
- Lewis and Clark
- Sacagawea
- The Louisiana Purchase
- Thomas Jefferson
- Native Americans and European Explorers
Reading:
- Informational text structures, followed by text features (captions, headings, subheadings, table of contents, etc.)
Writing:
- Poetry unit (haiku, acrostic, cinquain)
- Personal narratives
- Cursive writing practice
Spelling
- Reminder that we only have spelling on 5-day school weeks, we use extra spelling time for reading, writing, grammar, or as flexible time for unfinished work.
I hope everyone is having a great week!
