Vowel Team ea

This week in spelling and word work, first grade students began working with vowel teams or vowel digraphs.  Using vowel team ea as our first pair, we reviewed the two vowels go walking rule which states, “When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking and says its name.”   Vowel teams, or digraphs, will be introduced in order of frequency with which they are used (ea, oa, ai, ee, ay, and oe).
