Double Digit Addition and Subtraction

Now that we have learned a wide variety of addition and subtraction strategies, students are ready to expand their computation skills. Last week, first graders began working on double digit addition and subtraction without regrouping.   Applying our understanding of place value concepts, students are learning to start at the ones and then move to the tens.  Writing and solving problems accurately, students are practicing writing number sentences, lining up numbers correctly, and using an appropriate strategy.
