STEM in Our Backyard!

Today we worked together in small groups to create the tallest leaf pile.  The kiddos were given 15 minutes to create their mountain of leaves.  They were allowed to use anything in the backyard as long as it was safe.  There was some amazing problem solving that took place.  One group used a pile of leaves that someone else had left and just added to it.  One group built there pile in a ditch where a huge pile had already accumulated.  Another group built their pile of leaves against the culvert and propped chairs so the pile would increase in height, not width!  It’s wonderful to see them working together, strategizing and thinking outside the box!
