Today, our classroom floated right into the magic of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! We kicked things off with Balloons Over Broadway, the delightful story of Tony Sarg—the playful inventor behind those towering parade balloons. The kids were instantly hooked by the way Tony mixed art, imagination, and a whole lot of tinkering to bring his characters to life.
Inspired by his creativity, our students became designers themselves. The room buzzed with sketches, bold colors, and big ideas as everyone created their own mini “parade balloon” designs. And because November fun is never complete without a turkey twist, we rolled right into our “Disguise a Turkey” challenge. With Thanksgiving approaching, these turkeys needed a disguise—and fast!
It was a joyful blend of storytelling, STEM thinking, and pure creative play, filled with laughter and excitement. Whether it’s dreaming up a parade balloon or keeping a turkey out of trouble, our students are proving once again that they’re full of fantastic ideas…and not afraid to let them soar.
