Science Kick Off

Yesterday, third graders stepped into the roles of scientists and engineers as we explored the big question: What is science?

To kick off the lesson, students designed “egg drop protection devices” to see if they could keep an egg from breaking when dropped. They made predictions, asked questions, sketched and built their designs, and tested their hypotheses putting the scientific method into action.

Using straws, rubber bands, and tape, each group designed their device. While every egg ended up with a few cracks, the experiment was a fun (and messy!) way to dive into science!
