Happy Thanksgiving!

We have several contributors to today’s blog: Brody, Journey, Gavin, Beck, Anna, Dexter and Ayden

We’re learning about  magnetism and electricity in science. We have messed around with magnets and iron filings. Some kids in our class did a sculpture challenge Gavin was the host,  while the players were Ayden, Molly, Beck, Dexter, and Brody. Beck and Molly tied for first. Beck made a pizza man and Molly made a robot. Dexter made a basketball hoop, Ayden made a bunnyman and Brody made a warrior.

The Summit had its fall concert Tuesday evening. Fifth grade played Paris, Lady Bird, Blue Magic Wombat and Breaking The Girl on alto recorders.

On Tuesday officer Craigmyle and his dog Lor came to our school. We ate lunch with them and asked questions. We found out that Lor once got a tooth stuck in someones arm and they had to get it surgically removed. Now he has that tooth in a cabinet just sitting there. There was a girl playing hide and seek with her friends, she hid under a combine, her friends never found her, but Lor did.  Lor has even found a lost old man. Lor has saved a man that went kayaking and his kayak flipped and he couldn’t swim and got swept downstream and got stuck on a tree.   Lor retired this past week, and will live out the rest of his life in leisure.

This week fifth grade tried a new learning game called Legends of Learning. We played a game about electricity that is introduced us to negative and positive charges and how electrons move.

In robotics we are preparing for a tournament this Saturday. Our teacher is going crazy trying to get us prepared. Our team is called The Summit Prep Robo-Ravens. Our robot team was excited building it in the beginning. We had meetings every Wednesday afternoon from 3:30 to 4:30.

Enjoy your holiday.  See you in December!
