At The Summit, we value strong school–home partnerships, and the ISACS Parent Series helps us grow together as a parent community. This year’s series features nationally recognized experts offering practical insights for raising healthy, thriving children.
Our next featured presentation is David Yeager’s 10 to 25: The Science of Motivating Young People. Young people have an innate need to be respected and admired—but few adults truly understand how to harness it. Yeager, an expert on the psychology of grit and persistence, shares why conventional methods of communicating with teens and young adults often fall flat and how adopting a “mentor mindset” can transform how we support them. Parents will learn practical, easy-to-implement strategies—such as being transparent about expectations and holding high standards—that help young people feel inspired, empowered, and capable of doing their best work.

About the presenter: David Yeager, PhD, is a professor of psychology at the University of Texas at Austin and co-founder of the Texas Behavioral Science and Policy Institute. He is internationally recognized for his research on interventions that shape adolescent motivation, engagement, well-being, stress, and behavior. Yeager is the bestselling author of 10 to 25: The Science of Motivating Young People and is ranked by Clarivate Web of Science among the top 0.1% most influential psychologists of the past decade. A former middle school teacher and basketball coach, he earned his PhD and MA from Stanford University and his BA and MEd from the University of Notre Dame. His work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Scientific American, CNN, Fox News, and more.
