Week of 2/23 – 2/27

Celebration time!  It’s the trimester celebration week, and we’ve been busy bees getting ready!  Additionally, we’ve got student led conferences on Friday.  See you all soon!

Reading: We’re kicking off the spring reading theme (Teamwork makes the dream work!) by starting a new read aloud tomorrow – Flora and Ulysses.  And… if you’ve seen the movie, the book is MUCH better.

Writing: Students have been reflecting on their poetry units by choosing one of their own poems and one poem from a published poet to share at our poetry slam tomorrow.  We watched some poetry videos to get some inspiration for performing poetry.

Language Study: This week, we played with word parts – specifically prefixes and suffixes.

Social Studies: We finished up our analysis of Columbus, and are turning our attention to other Age of Exploration explorers.

Science: Students wired their circuit boards in preparation for the celebration!

Math: We started a new unit on working with decimal numbers.  This week we will learn about adding and subtracting.
