Read Across America

Happy Read Across America Day!

March 2nd marked our celebration of Read Across America Day at The Summit, in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday! This special day focuses on celebrating the joy of reading and encouraging students to explore new books and ideas. Schools across the country participate to promote literacy and build a lifelong love of reading. Fifth graders celebrated in many ways today!

  • They created outlines for their literary essays about the last novel they read.
  • They got their assignments and books for their next novel study.
  • We started a new read aloud: Flora and Ulysses by one of my favorite middle grade authors: Kate DiCamillo
  • They got to read aloud to kids in both kindergarten classes!
