Week of 4/20 – 4/24

It’s officially the home stretch of the school year, and the fifth graders have less than 15 days of school left as elementary school students.  We’ve been busy bees this week as we gear up for the final push.  Here’s what we worked on this week:

Reading: Continuing to work on those book groups.

Writing: Students are writing their personal narrative stories this week.  We’ve learned about effective story starts and paragraphing rules/suggestions for narrative writing.

Language Study: Latin and Greek word parts, including number prefixes and part of speech suffixes.

Social Studies: We took a deep dive into what makes a country a country.  Students also got to invent their own country.  We also learned about types of govenments.

Science: Students finished up their Cell posters.

Math: Students reviewed for and took a test on data analysis and graphs. We also practiced a special secret activity for Grandfriends’ Day.
