Happy New Year, EL Blue! We hope you had a restful and joyful winter break. It’s wonderful to see all the little faces back in the classroom, eager to dive into new activities and learning experiences. With the cold winter weather settling in, we are embracing indoor recess and finding cozy ways to stay active and engaged.
Exploring the New Winter Season
This time of year is perfect for learning about the winter season. We’re talking about snowflakes, mittens, hot cocoa, and all the wonders of winter! Children have been excited to share their favorite winter activities and observe how the weather changes. It’s a great opportunity to introduce concepts like temperature, weather patterns, and how animals stay warm in the cold.
Having Indoor Recess
While the snow may be falling outside, our indoor recess time is packed with excitement and movement. We move our bodies to GoNoodle, DannyGo, Freeze Dance songs and BrainBreaks! Winter-themed games, crafts and activities are a big hit, and we’re making the most of our cozy space with fun centers that allow our little ones to play and explore.
Reviewing the Letter L with Lines, Listening, Learning, Laughing – and Leif the dog
In our literacy lessons, we’ve been reviewing the letter L, listening to the sound it makes and we’re learning all about the many ways to draw lines! From straight lines to curvy ones, we’re also discovering how the letter L is also made up of lines as we trace and write it. To make it even more fun, we’ve been designing lines on our winter hat activities, reinforcing our fine motor skills.
As we move through this chilly season, we’re excited to keep learning and laughing and having visits from Leif the dog!
Here’s to a fantastic start to the new year full of exploration, fun, and discovery!
Stay warm, stay curious, and stay playful!
