October Author Study

We’ve had a delightful time diving into the vibrant world of Lois Ehlert during the month of October. Lois is a beloved children’s author and illustrator known for her unique collage art and engaging stories. Ehlert’s books often blend playful language with colorful visuals, making them a favorite among young readers.

On Monday, we explored her book Lots of Spots. In this engaging story, Ehlert takes us on an imaginative journey through a world filled with colorful spots, helping us readers discover the beauty and variety of patterns in nature. The playful illustrations and rhythmic text make it a joy to read aloud, sparking curiosity and creativity in our young learners.

To connect our reading to our letter of the week, “D,” we made an exciting discovery: the spots in the book resemble dots! We incorporated this idea into our next activity by coloring in dots to create the capital letter D. This hands-on project not only reinforced our letter recognition but also celebrated the whimsical spirit of Ehlert’s work.
